Submitting and Issuing PM Work Orders / Tasks

Preventive Maintenance work orders are automatically added to the GLOBAL Work Order page based on schedule information on the PM. Each work order includes one or more tasks. A task is an individual work activity that is assigned to a technician and includes information about the resources needed to complete the work. For information about creating and scheduling PMs, see Adding and Scheduling PMs.

Each preventive maintenance work order added to the Work Order page starts in one of three Phases: Identification, Planning, or Execution. The work order Phase is determined by the WO Status setting on the PM as described in the table below.

PM WO Status Phase Description
Created Identification The work order has not been submitted. Some information fields, for example, Site, Services, and Assets, may need to be filled before submitting the work order. When the work order is submitted, it enters the Planning phase. Use the steps in Filtering the Preventive Maintenance Work Orders List and The Identification Phase below to manage preventive maintenance work orders in the Identification phase.
Ready Planning The work order has been submitted but has not been issued. Resources, for example, Parts and Labor, may need to be assigned before issuing the work order. When the work order is issued, it enters the Execution phase. Use the steps in the Filtering the Preventive Maintenance Work Orders List and The Planning Phase below to manage preventive maintenance work orders in the Planning phase.
Issued Execution The work order has been issued. See Completing Tasks for more information on managing work orders in the Execution phase.

The following steps show you how to filter and open preventive maintenance work orders, then process a preventive maintenance work order through the Identification and Planning phases. For information about processing a work order through the Execution phase, see Completing Tasks.
